The Sedra Yisro 5776

This week we look at Parshat Yisro, where we see the namesake of the portion, Moshe’s father in law, arriving at the Jewish camp. Jethro observes how Moshe is leading the nation and offers some crucial advice. He notices that Moshe is sitting alone from morning until evening to judge the people, a task that seems noble but is incredibly taxing. Why was it so exhausting? Beyond just answering questions, a true judge must balance three key things: law, truth, and peace. As we learn from our sages, the ultimate way to achieve both truth and peace is through the path of compromise. Jethro worried that Moshe would wear himself out by trying to navigate these deep complexities for every single individual. In this video, we explore the beauty of compromise and how it serves as a blueprint for justice and charity. I hope these lessons inspire your Shabbat. Shabbat Shalom!
