The Sedra Pekudei 5776
This week we conclude the book of Shemot with Parshat Pekudei. While this portion is famous for its detailed accounting and measurements of the Mishkan, there is a profound lesson hidden within the work of Betzalel. We find a fascinating contrast between Betzalel and the sons of Aaron, Nadav and Avihu. Both parties attempted to go beyond what was explicitly commanded in their service of God. However, while Betzalel was praised for his original ideas, Nadav and Avihu suffered a tragic fate for their unauthorized offering. In this video, we explore the crucial difference between these two approaches. It all comes down to mastering a methodology of thought and tradition. When we act with a deep understanding of our heritage, our individuality can flourish in the service of Hashem. Join me as we discuss how to balance innovation with established Halacha. Shabbat Shalom!
